Okay, folks, I need to get something off my chest. This modern obsession with instant gratification is driving me absolutely bonkers! Especially when it comes to booking a stay at my beautiful, cozy BNB.
I get it. We live in a world of 24/7 everything. Amazon delivers in hours, fast food is… well, fast. But news flash: my BNB isn't some soulless corporate hotel churning out identical rooms like widgets on an assembly line!
Lately, I've been inundated with booking requests at 3 a.m. "But your website is open!" I hear you cry. Yes, dear reader, the *website* is open. So is the grocery store. Doesn't mean the cashier is there waiting to ring you up while they're trying to sleep.
Do people honestly think I'm sitting here, bleary-eyed in my pajamas, ready to approve your request for a last-minute glamping adventure at the crack of dawn? I have a life! I have a dog to walk, sourdough to bake (because, yes, I'm *that* kind of BNB owner!), and maybe, just maybe, eight hours of precious sleep to catch.
And it's not just the late-night requests. It's the expectation that I'm glued to my phone, ready to respond to every whim and question within five seconds. "Can I bring my pet iguana?" (Seriously, people?!) "Is the vegan gluten-free organic kombucha locally sourced?" (I offer coffee. Take it or leave it!)
This isn't a concierge service, people! It's a BNB! Bed and Breakfast! I offer a comfy bed, a tasty breakfast, and maybe a friendly chat about the best hiking trails. I'm not your personal assistant, travel agent, or on-demand problem solver.
And don't even get me started on the comparison to hotels. "But the Marriott answers their phones 24/7!" Good for the Marriott! They have a call center in Bangalore and a room full of identical beige carpets. My place has character, charm, and a genuine, heartfelt welcome. You want that, you wait until business hours.
Maybe it's time for a reality check. Remember the joy of planning a trip, anticipating the experience? Maybe instead of expecting instant access and 24/7 service, you could, I don't know, *research* your destination, *book in advance*, and *respect the fact that your host is a human being*.
End rant. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a loaf of sourdough to tend to. And I'll be checking emails after 9 a.m., thank you very much.
